Words from the heart
At times, life offers us something that we feel we cannot accept, we do not want to accept. We may find we have been dealt something so devastatingly tragic that we believe there is no way to return to our former self, our True Self. Something so perfect, dear, and precious has been taken away from us.
Our belief system has been shattered. We are in limbo. Unanswerable questions flood the mind. How do we continue living without what was meant to be a lifetime but was for the briefest of moments? How could this happen to my family? How could this happen to me? Why did this happen? How could the Divine, Spirit, God, the Universe, the system, humankind, whatever our belief is, allow this to happen?
There are no answers. We simply have to be in the moment. One excruciating moment at a time, living the unpredictable, tumultuous waves of emotions. Deep hurt, sadness, numbness, anger, confusion all consume our humanness. How do we return? Do we even want to return?
As we experience the shifts of emotion, we may find ourselves ever so slowly softening into an awareness that life will never be the same, we will never be the same, we cannot ever be the same.
It will take time. It will take strength. It will take courage. It will take gentleness. It will take acceptance and understanding of where we are at.
We can return to mantra. We can return to the breath. We can return to the mat. We can return to our practice.
We will not ever return to who we were. We cannot ever return to who we were. We morph into someone different. Life is forever different. Because of the fragility of life we have come to the realisation that we had only the slightest glimpse of what the 'True Self' might actually mean. We continue on the path...
